Firstly, thank you all so much for the input and suggestions you gave us regarding the issue of moratoriums placed on applications. It gave us a great deal of food for thought, and the mods got together to decide whether we should revise our stance on it. After weighing the pros and cons of each option given, we decided that the strike system suggested to us would be the best solution. It'll work like this:
Strike One: If an application is rejected on the basis of characterization, it will receive a ban of one application cycle, or two weeks. After those two weeks are over, the applicant will be able to apply.
Strike Two: If an applicant's second application is likewise rejected, one of two paths will be taken. If the application shows absolutely no effort to revise, we will consider that a third strike (please see below). If the application does show substantial effort to revise but the mods are still unconvinced regarding characterization, we will place a two application cycle ban on that application, after which the applicant will again be able to try.
Strike Three: If an applicant's third application has improved dramatically and is now acceptance-worthy, we will happily accept it. Otherwise, we will consider that the final strike, and that applicant will not be able to apply for two months, or four application cycles.
In case that's not worded in the clearest manner, here is an example:
Application X is rejected for characterization on January 1st. They are not allowed to apply from January 1st to January 15th. After January 15th, they will be allowed to apply for the application cycle that will be reviewed on January 30th.
Application X is rejected a second time for characterization on January 1st. They will not be allowed to apply from January 1st to January 30th. After the 30th, they will be allowed to apply for the application cycle that will be reviewed on February 15th.
Application X is rejected a third time for characterization on January 1st. They will not be allowed to apply from January 1st to
In other words, for the first rejection, the application will have an opportunity for acceptance in one month, or two application cycles: one inactive (while the application was on probation), and one active (when the application could finally be submitted). For the second rejection, the application will have another opportunity in one and a half months, or three application cycles: two inactive, and one active. For the third, the application will have another opportunity in two and a half months, or five application cycles: four inactive, and one active.
We know that some of you might still think this is a bit long, but we hope that it's a fitting compromise, and that most of you are happy with it. Again, thank you so much for all of the advice and suggestions you gave us. It really did help a great deal, and we're very grateful for a playerbase that's willing to come to us with concerns.
